I served as national chair of this vital organization that represents journalists at television and radio stations around the country. From lobbying on behalf of journalists to providing ethical training, RTDNA is an important voice in journalism.

After completing my service as chair of RTDNA, I served an additional year as chair of its foundation, RTDNF. This foundation is responsible for scholarships and promotion the future of broadcast and digital journalism.

National Academy of television arts and sciences (NATAS)

I served as a national trustee to NATAS, helping lead this organization dedicated to honoring the best in local television with the Emmy awards, as well as developing the next generation of TV pros.

NATAS has regional chapters all over the country, working locally to honor TV excellence and develop future TV leaders. I served as chapter president at NATAS - Mid-America.

By serving as national president of the Carole Kneeland Project, I led efforts started in Carole’s name to improve the management of local newsrooms.

I served as a screener for the True/False Film Fest, rating submitted films and writing reviews for the programmers. I also conducted post-film Q&A sessions with filmmakers during the fest.
